Eggs
from Chicken
Track
Chicken Track Eggs,
located in Hudson, CO, sources 100% of their eggs from local farmers in
Colorado, who uphold 100% cage free environments. All packing of
eggs occurs locally too. These sustainable farming methods
support local economies and prevent the hen, or the eggs, from
traveling thousands of miles before making it on to your table.
Chicken Track is transparent and proud of their commitment to animal
welfare.
Chicken Track offers
several egg options. Their staple cage free hens (similar in breed to
Rhode Island Reds) produce beautiful brown eggs that pop in the bright
blue (recycled newspaper!) carton that holds the bounty. These
birds are fed an all vegetarian feed that is both Non-GMO and soy free
(a flax meal replacement is used in place to provide crucial
nutrients).
A second product, fertile eggs, are yielded from farms where roosters
are kept with hens and the highest quality local fertile eggs are the
byproduct.
Third, a small flock of Americana chickens produce the "Colorado
Colors" line of Chicken Tracks Eggs.
These are truly unique offering a variety of coloration including blue,
green, tan and white colored eggs mixed into one carton.
Newest to their line are pastured/free range eggs. These pastured
raised hens have access to the cage free sheltered environment, as well
as access to roam the fields. These pastured practices allow for
great sustainability measures. Run off wash water from washing
Chicken Track Eggs is reused to water the grass in the pastures.
Additionally, mobile fencing allows rotation of the free range areas,
as to not deplete the earth below.
As Chicken Track Eggs
continues to grow, so does their demand for more flocks. A
portion of their growth plan involves helping other farmers raise small
groups of birds. On their website, Chicken Track provides an
interesting tool for consumers to enter the "flock code"
from their egg carton and track their eggs to the local farm and flock
that laid them.
Available in both food service tray packs and retail cartons, with Chicken Track Eggs
there are plenty of options for all egg lovers, however you like to fry
it up.
