With the World Series this week, let's not forget about one of America's favorite ball game snacks, the sunflower seed. Fed up with the added artificial ingredients found in his favorite snack, Mark Pettyjohn decided to do something about it. Not wanting to over-complicate the process, his philosophy was "it's simple". After a year of perfecting the roasting techniques and developing flavor combinations, Pettyjohn founded Chinook Seedery.

 

 

Joined by his fiancé, Pettyjohn continued his plans to keep things simple and healthy. All of Chinook Seedery's seeds are created with high standards. You won't find any MSG, GMO's, loads of sodium or artificial flavoring in these seeds! Although the roasting process takes significantly longer this way, Chinook Seedery refuses to risk quality. Approximately 30% of the sunflower seeds used are sourced right here in Colorado. In an effort to keep the operation as environmentally sustainable as possible, their packaging is even developed with NVIRO technology, created from composted materials.

 

Sunflower seeds are more then just a great snack at sporting events. They are one of nature's super foods. High in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, they provide nutrients and energy for stamina- the perfect anytime snack. Chinook Seedery wanted to make sure their seeds sustained their nutritional integrity through production by using half the amount of salt of other products out there, and adding a touch of cane sugar. Chinook seeds are like nothing else on the shelves today.

As far as flavor combinations go, Chinook Seedery has combined unique ingredients to give you robust flavor! Available in Original, Parmesan and Pepper, Hatch Green Chile and Dill Pickle. So far, the reasonably spicy Hatch Green Chile has been the consumer favorite.

 

Chinook Seedery isn't just about sunflower seeds. They also find it important to give back to the community. They not only sponsor local little league teams, they also contribute to the Lone Survivor Foundation, which benefits men and women of the US Armed Forces.

 

 

Understanding that it would be difficult to use their in-shell seeds as anything but a snack, Chinook Seedery has future plans to sell the shelled, kernel product in the future.
